Insights into the diverse sound language of a new generation of jazz artists - personal, artistic, live. The recital in the second semester of study is a central examination concert in the Dr. Langner Jazzmaster at the HfMT Hamburg. Together with their Jazzmaster ensemble, the students perform an individually designed concert program - from original compositions to sophisticated arrangements and free improvisations.
On this evening: Lucas Kolbe (bass) and Matteo Stefani (guitar).
Recital I (MA) - Lucas Kolbe (MA):
The quartet is oriented towards the open sound aesthetics of Paul Motian, Jakob Bro and Bill Frisell. The starting point is their own compositions, which are reduced, clear and at the same time open to sonic developments in the moment.
The focus is on listening and reacting together: a transparent interplay that does not see structure and freedom as opposites, but as equal components of musical expression. The music moves between Scandinavian clarity, influences from Americana and a sonic expanse that leaves plenty of room for atmosphere and spontaneous ideas.
Recital I (MA) - Matteo Stefani (MA):
Ghirigori is a group of four young musicians who have set themselves the goal of exploring the relationship between seemingly opposing elements of music: acoustic and electric instruments, structured and improvised sections, static and evolving sounds. By delving deeper into the material, we can experience how diversity enhances the strength of the individual elements and the greater whole.
