New York City, the pulsating global metropolis, is a magical magnet for many. "If I Can Make It Here, I'm Gonna Make It Anywhere" sang Frank Sinatra about the city on the Hudson River. And even if not everyone dreams of emigrating to NYC, there is hardly anyone who doesn't dream of having been there once in their life. For all those who have never been to the "Big Apple", concert organizer RGV Event GmbH is now bringing a piece of New York to Germany - gospel from Harlem.

Grammy award-winner Reverend Gregory M. Kelly, who has already worked with music greats such as Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross, will be coming to Germany with his choir for over 40 dates in December 2023 and January 2024. The individual singers in the ensemble read like a who's who of the active US gospel scene. REV. GREGORY M. KELLY & the BEST OF HARLEM GOSPEL includes top-class singers such as Reverend Dr. Charles R. Lyles, Timothy Riley, Steven McCaster, Dorrey Lin Lyles and Segdrick Marsh. A total of nine voices that transport the indescribable atmosphere of the gospel churches in Harlem to Germany's churches and concert halls.

Harlem - the neighborhood in New York's Manhattan borough - is still famous for the heyday of African-American culture in the 1920s, known as the "Harlem Renaissance", which attracted legends such as Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington to this very neighborhood. And even today, Harlem proudly displays its African-American roots, vibrant culture, strong faith and musical rhythm.

A two-hour program that offers everything that makes gospel music so unique, rousing and moving. The choir's repertoire includes both traditional and pre-Christmas gospel songs - from the famous and much-loved gospel classics such as "Oh happy day" and "Amen" to "Whole world in his hands" and "Go, tell it on the mountain".

A gospel choir that cannot be compared with any other gospel formation. Religion plays just as important and fundamental a role here as it does in the lives of the people of Harlem. After all, the religion practiced in Harlem is nothing else: music and singing on behalf of the Lord. But no matter whether young or old, Catholic or Protestant, non-denominational or still unbelieving, everyone is welcome at the concerts.
