A Heart of Steel and Plastic, 2024, 15 min.
Feature film by Keanu Pioch (director and writer), Daphne Klein (cinematography)
After a long search, Ivonne has finally found the parking space of her dreams when she almost collides with Thomas. They both want the same thing, but neither wants the other. As more and more vehicles lay claim to the parking space, both engines and tempers heat up. Surrounded by selfishness, Ivonne sees only one way out... She gets out. Thomas is forced to do the same, which unexpectedly brings them closer together. The night has conquered the day and with it the conflict. They chat and laugh. But when Thomas is presented with a tempting opportunity, he threatens to fall back into old patterns.
Feierabend, 2024, 18 min.
Experimental film by Renxing Zhou and Helin Korkmaz (director and screenwriter), Bernard Mescherowsky and Ayham Khalifeh (cinematography)
In "Feierabend" we are investigating the haunting nature of sound and any sort of oscillation that left their fingerprints on our prenatal and postnatal perception of the "unseen". Traveling with myths and aural history, their lack of credibility have a huge effect on our definition of "uncanny" today. It is how we translate our memories and how we resonate with the perceivers. The memory that we translate is the experience we had with the natural phenomenon "earthquake"; both physically and emotionally. "Earthquake" is a force that humans cannot escape from and where the artificial systems of control become insufficient.
7 Zentimeter Wand, 2025, 62 min.
Feature film by Emma Externbrink and Yonca Sicimoglu
On the seventh floor of a high-rise building: four apartments, four worlds of color, side by side, four lives that lead past each other, separated by a few centimeters of wall. Maren dances herself into ecstasy, Leon longs for nature, André maneuvers himself into an unpleasant dinner and Victor tries to spice up his marriage. We embark on a journey through the walls. Between retro wallpaper and loneliness: is it still possible to get together?
After the screening, the directors, authors and image designers present will talk about the process of making their films and introduce their film teams in a discussion with the audience.
