Rundgang der KHM 2025: Filme von Studierenden (Filmprogramm 6)

From Thursday to Sunday, the film program at Rundgang 2025 will present a total of 44 films by students of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) that have been made over the last twelve months as part of their studies. Feature films, documentaries, animations, experimental films and hybrid forms of cinematic storytelling will be shown in 13 program blocks in the auditorium of the KHM and in the Filmforum at the Museum Ludwig.

Displaced in Time tells the story of an Iranian family scattered across years and borders, where home becomes a shadow-ever present, yet always out of reach. At the heart of the film is the voice of the filmmaker's mother, whose singing-outlawed in Iran-becomes a powerful act of defiance. Her voice echoes with the weight of exile and the force of resistance. It reflects on how displacement shapes not only where we live but how we inhabit time itself-where we can only truly meet within the fragile borders of an image.

During the war, the father dies and the rest of the family gathers together. After years of separation, three siblings have to come to terms with their broken relationships and the death of their father. Despite the arduous journey to the distant village, the sister insists on fulfilling their father's will. On their journey, the siblings are confronted with difficult decisions.

In the tropical hall of Düsseldorf Zoo, a woman's encounter with the crocodile keeper changes everything. As they watch crocodiles together and are watched by them, they talk about family memories with reptiles in Colombia, ghosts and the history of the zoo.

After the screening, the directors, authors and image designers present will talk about the process of making their films and introduce their film teams in a discussion with the audience.
