SALON LUITPOLD | Grande Dame des Bayerischen Staatsballetts | Judith Turos im Gespräch mit Christoph Gaiser
In the organizer's words:
Talk at the Luitpold Salon: Judith Turos in Conversation with Christoph Gaiser
Of course, she will remain connected to the company as a sought-after advisor and an inexhaustible source of knowledge, but at the end of the season, the Bavarian State Ballet will bid farewell to Judith Turos, who has guided the company’s fortunes as ballet mistress since 2005, as she retires. This is therefore a welcome opportunity to speak with the artist about important milestones in her artistic career and to reflect on continuity and change in the world of dance.
Born in Romania to Hungarian parents, the dancer came to Munich in the early 1980s and, beginning in 1985, shaped the dance scene at the Bavarian State Opera as a principal dancer; from the early 1990s onward, she did the same at the Bavarian State Ballet. She was the first artist to receive the title “Bavarian Chamber Dancer.” Among her many signature roles, those of Tatiana in John Cranko’s “Onegin” and Marguerite Gautier in “The Lady of the Camellias” stand out in particular. In 2005, she ended her active career and has since shared her wealth of experience with the younger generation as a ballet mistress.
