Liz Stringer is one of Australia's most admired and versatile female songwriters
and instrumentalists in Australia. With a career that spans seven studio albums
and a wealth of awards—including being named “Artist of
the Year” at the 2023 Port Fairy Folk Festival and the title “Emerging Legend of
Australian Song” at the 2020 Woodford Folk Festival—Stringer is a highly regarded
guitarist and singer. Her live performances, known for their intensity, as well as her
melodically rich, narrative songs have secured her a unique place among
the most significant Australian female songwriters of today.
In the summer of 2023, Stringer collaborated with Grammy-nominated and
Ivor Novello Award-winning producer and sound engineer Beni
Giles (Lianne La Havas) at Iguana Studios in Brixton, London, to complete
her most mature work to date. On “The Second High,” Stringer explores a
broader spectrum of her musical influences; she uses jazz, soul, and funk as
sonic canvas to showcase songs that address themes such as
self-actualization, social inequality, and the persistent pursuit of truth
and authenticity.

Stringer’s fans include influential music legends such as Bonnie Raitt, Jackson
Browne, and Midnight Oil—with the latter, she toured the world between 2020 and 2022 as
a backup singer and occasional instrumentalist.
