Schönheit und Macht – Mirna Funk und Elisabeth Lechner über Körperbilder und weibliche Selbstbestimmung

In the organizer's words:

All bodies, especially female bodies, are subject to constant evaluation mechanisms. But who decides what is considered beautiful? Should we participate in self-optimization and beauty mania or not? One thing is clear: women are judged and condemned - regardless of whether they opt for a beauty procedure or decide to leave the house without make-up from now on. Publicist Mirna Funk ("Who Cares! On the freedom to be a woman", most recently: "Balagan") embodies a self-determined feminism and represents images of women and bodies that are shaped by her Jewish and East German origins.
The cultural scientist Elisabeth Lechner ("Riot, don't diet!") researches body positivity, capitalist ideals of beauty and "disgusting" bodies. At phil.COLOGNE, they will be discussing unruliness and femininity, beauty standards and self-determination. Moderated by: Rabea Weihser
