In the organizer's words:
Bright colors on a golden background next to deep black bridal attire: Traditional Danube Swabian costumes provide surprising insights into the lives of women and girls in the past. This world was narrow because it was determined by village and church rules, but also wide because it offered the diversity of a multicultural society.
The exhibition builds bridges between tradition and modernity, ideology and reality, past and present textile upcycling. It provides insights into the lives of Danube Swabians, the descendants of German-speaking emigrants who settled in the Kingdom of Hungary from the late 17th to the 19th century. They lived there as one ethnic group among many.
