Panel discussion and subsequent reception with the opportunity to exchange views on the topic of sexualized war violence
The experts Dr. Monika Hauser, founder and director of the international women's rights organization medica mondiale, and Anne-Kathrin Kreft, political scientist at the Criminological Research Institute of Lower Saxony, will discuss why no breakthrough has yet been achieved on this topic.
Perspectives from women's rights activists from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Democratic Republic will be included in the event.
In 1995, a decisive milestone for women's rights was set at the 4th and last World Conference on Women in Beijing: the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. A comprehensive and innovative concept for the equality of women. Even then, the focus was on combating sexualized violence in armed conflicts.
30 years later, sexualized violence in war is still a bitter reality for many women and girls in war and crisis zones.
At the event, the experts will talk about the structural causes of violence, political and social challenges and existing approaches to protecting and supporting those affected.
