SimultanProjekte 2026 - Ausstellung wittern

In the organizer's words:

With an interdisciplinary re-enchantment of the location, the questioning of lost promises for the future and the exploration of social structures, the exhibition addresses themes such as community, decay and new social rituals in our society. The exhibition title WITTERN refers, among other things, to the weather to which the artworks on display in the outdoor space, the Simultanhalle, are exposed. The presentation focuses on the spring and summer months and makes the natural influences visible.

Over a period of three months, the artists Mira Siering and Nadine Karl will make it possible to experience the site as an installation for the exhibition: they will interweave sculptural, landscape and architectural approaches and develop fictional spaces in a mutual dialog between their artistic practice, the site and its neighborhood as well as the weather-related changes.

The juxtaposition of the permanent works will be extended by performative interventions by the artists Darcy Neven, Philip Nürnberger and Mohamed Moe Sabbah on the performance day (Sat., 20.06.2026). In her dinner performances, Darcy Neven combines artistic practice with social interaction, creating a unique, participatory experience over a shared meal. Philip Nürnberger explores the boundaries between language, body and space in his literary performances - his work Keine Ruinen mehr deals with the perception and transformation of ruins in digital and analog space. Moe Sabbah's mask performances explore the multi-layered identities and cultural codes hidden behind the veiling and unveiling.

The Simultanhalle is an art association in Cologne and was founded in 1983 as a project space. The association focuses on the promotion of contemporary art, which is conveyed in various formats such as exhibitions, performances, readings, concerts, film screenings and workshops and characterizes the Simultanhalle as a place for learning together. The exhibition program is not guided by a singular curatorial line, but represents diverse artistic interests and developments that are constantly changing.
