On the small island of Berk, high up in the north, there's no time to waste: Vikings with the strength to kill have to protect their island from wild dragons who are making their lives hell. The lanky teenager Hiccup (Daniel Axt), nicknamed "the giant", is also passionate about dragon hunting - but unfortunately he has two left hands when it comes to handling weapons. As his father is none other than Haudrauf "the Stoic" (Dominic Raacke), chief of the Viking tribe and a famous dragon hunter, Hiccup is now supposed to learn the rough martial art of the Vikings at dragon school. But before Hiccup - who, by the way, is a clever and enthusiastic tinkerer - can start the dreaded lessons, his village is attacked by a wild dragon armada. This is Hiccup's big chance to defeat a dragon for once and save his father's honor! With a lot of courage and brains, he manages to shoot down a "nightshade", one of the most dangerous dragon species. When Hiccup finally comes face to face with his prey, he can hardly believe his eyes: sadly panting, the dragon looks at him with wide eyes. Instead of telling his father about his remarkable catch, Hiccup befriends the nightshade. It is the beginning of a friendship that turns Hiccup's world upside down: A Viking who has a dragon for a friend? That goes against all the rules of Viking tradition! His father will never accept that...
