Sonic Bridges – Mehdi Nassouli & Marmoucha Orchestra

Regular festivalgoers will recall the hypnotic live music from last year’s “Faith” show, which was created by Moroccan composer and guembri master Mehdi Nassouli. Now he returns for the festival’s closing night with the program “Sonic Bridges” and the 13-member Marmoucha Orchestra, which brings together the fascinating diversity of musical styles and traditions from Southwest Asia, North Africa, and the Mediterranean region. Inspired by the ensemble’s boundless possibilities, Mehdi Nassouli effortlessly navigates these musical worlds with his irresistible voice, seamlessly blending Moroccan Gnawa music with jazz improvisation, fusion, and pop to create a musical fireworks display.
