Suzan Köcher´s Suprafon

Suzan Köcher’s Suprafon plays psychedelic music that blends dream pop, indie, krautrock, disco, ’60s vibes, desert Americana, and cinema noir. With their music, which carries you away on a wave of sound, the band has wowed audiences at events including the Traumzeit Festival, the Burg Herzberg Festival, SXSW in Austin, Texas, the Reeperbahn Festival, and the WDR Rockpalast. Most recently, the band was honored with the Pop NRW Award in the “Outstanding Artist” category.
Their third studio album, “In These Dying Times,” was released in October 2024 on Unique Records. “I started writing songs when I was 14 because I was afraid to talk about things and be rejected. “Music was my way of saying what I think”—an experience that German-Turkish musician Suzan Köcher shares with many others, especially other women. The current turmoil and events in world history are clearly felt on “In These Dying Times.” The album addresses the tragedy of the present, feelings of powerlessness, and the ever-widening rifts in our society. With this album, the band looks to both the future and the past, while remaining fully focused on their own emotions. It’s about self-empowerment and self-discovery, about forgiving oneself. But it’s also about
escapism, about fears and overcoming them.

The album marks a new chapter, showcasing Köcher as a mature artist who isn’t afraid to reveal her personal, vulnerable side. “Perhaps people will recognize themselves in my experiences in one way or another,” she hopes. “In times when there are such deep divides between people, it’s all the more important to find common ground and stand by one another.”
