A rich language, a large vocabulary - these are the hallmarks of an expressive language. It is the same in the art of printing. Only here it is not words but techniques that make it possible to realize an idea in a print.
The power of their expression grows with the range of their techniques.

The exhibition "Technique Spectrum" opens up the treasure chest from which the artists of the Kölner Graphikwerkstatt draw. It presents classic techniques such as woodcut, etching, aquatint, sugar ink and chine collé, but also exotic ones such as shot printing, needleprint and silk aquatint. It is an exciting journey through the world of printing plates and their processing possibilities.

On March 15, 2018, traditional printing techniques were added to the German UNESCO Commission's national list of intangible cultural heritage.
Since then, international printing sites and artists have been celebrating Printmaking Day with special events, including the Graphikwerkstatt in Cologne.

The exhibition will open on Printmaking Day on March 15.

The workshop will also be in action: from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. you can watch the printmakers at work.
