The Amsterdam psych-rock band TEMPLE FANG is no longer the best-kept secret in Dutch rock. Since 2018, the band has been touring all over Europe with their hard-hitting yet elegant long-form jams. They have built a tremendous reputation as a live band that always delivers and never repeats itself. After debuting with a live album,"Live at Merleyn" (2019) on their own label Right On Mountain Records, the band released the double album"Fang Temple" in 2021. After the pandemic, the band went on tour and played any festival that would have them. Roadburn, Freak Valley, Desertfest, Krach am Bach and Rock im Wald as well as touring Germany. They also traveled through Europe as support for "King Buffalo". The band released the"Jerusalem/The Bridge" EP and the"Live at Freak Valley" LP, which led to them being picked up by Stickman Records, the label of their friends from "Elder", "Iron Jinn" and "King Buffalo". After wrapping up their summer 2023 tour with blistering performances at Portugal's Sonic Blast and Switzerland's Palp Festival, where they turned heads and filled hearts with guitars, the band has been holed up in their Amsterdam bunker to work on their Stickman debut. Astounding riffs, triple vocal harmonies, dubbed-out bass and jazzy yet hard-hitting drums, ecstatically rocking and truly psychedelic, TEMPLE FANG delivers it all with love. "Elektrik Ram", the latest album from South African megalith RUFF MAJIK, is the kind of audio palate cleanser we all crave from time to time. It transports listeners back to a sepia-toned era when bell bottoms and fuzzy bass were all the rage. The guys in MAJIK take a familiar template and infuse it with their unique attitude and stoner-esque sensibility. The horned child known as RUFF MAJIK emerged from the primordial ooze when the band moved from the historic city of Lydenburg to capital city Pretoria in 2012, where they honed their craft for a few years before finally entering the studio to record for the first time. Now, with a string of EPs and two highly acclaimed albums under their belt, not to mention a megaton of local and international touring, they now return with perhaps their most important work: "Elektrik Ram". All the requisite MAJIK hallmarks are marked in thick, bold marker pen - sludgy, distorted riffs, vast soundscapes, dark imagery that perfectly complements the delicious cacophony and tasty sound bites that add endless swathes of color. This is what you expect from the band, their signature sound that never fails.
