VELVET TWO STRIPES are back: louder, rougher, unstoppable. Perhaps we should thank Jack White for bringing the spirit of blues-rock into the present age over the last 15 years, transmitting the meaning of one of rock music's oldest genres. White has paved the way for bands like The Kills, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Deap Vally. All of them with charismatic women at the front, celebrating the mix of garage, blues, fuzz rock and riot grrrl punk. An area in which the exciting band VELVET TWO STRIPES have also parked their rusty van. At last, a European band ready to compete with the greats of the scene, challenging the boys in their garage and proving that young women do have a feel for real blues. Two luminaries of the rock scene are responsible for the sound of their album "No Spell For Moving Water": Vance Powell (mixing, e.g. The White Stripes, Buddy Guy) and Pete Lyman (mastering, e.g. Tom Waits, Weezer). On "Embers", their brand new EP, they have re-recorded four classics from their debut album VTS. This time with real drums instead of a drum machine, recorded live in Portland and packed with the experience, toughness and technique that only years on stage can bring. The band proves once again: "Stand still? Not with us!" Sophie, Sara and Franca say: "The music remains the most important thing. We don't have to follow trends, we don't have to please anyone, just ourselves."
