From the perspective of klezmer musician, photographer and filmmaker Yale Strom, "THE LAST KLEZMER" portrays the eventful life and music of Leopold Kozlowski, the last klezmer musician to grow up with this musical tradition in Poland. Just a few generations ago, this region counted thousands of "klezmorim" among its three and a half million Jews. By the 1990s, there was only one left. Leopold revisits his life through memories, music and a trip back to his home town of Przemyslany (near Lviv, Ukraine). We experience the musician as a conductor and teacher who passes on his knowledge of Jewish music to a new generation of Catholic Poles.
