Copenhagen-based pianist Johanna Borchert and Berlin-based double bassist Miles Perkin form a duo that, under the motto “The Match,” engages in a dynamic dialogue on equal footing. The word “Match” has many meanings, oscillating between connection, competition, and conflict. This ambiguity forms the foundation for this new ensemble, which combines expanded playing techniques with songwriting and pop music, shifting between abstract and catchy sounds. Elements of jazz, contemporary classical music, and free improvisation are also incorporated; voices and sounds blend organically to create a unique musical world that is more than the sum of its parts.
