The Sound of Classic Motown
In the organizer's words:
The “Motown sound” took the music world by storm in the 1960s with global stars such as “The Jackson Five,” “Diana Ross and The Supremes,” Stevie Wonder, “The Temptations,” Marvin Gaye, “The Four Tops,” and many more. Label founder Berry Gordy Jr.’s recipe for success was as simple as it was ingenious. He translated the pulsating rhythm of “Motor Town” Detroit into thumping bass lines and driving backbeats—and layered over them fervently sung, multi-part harmonies: black soul that enticed listeners to dance and churned out No. 1 hits one after another.
“The Sound of Classic Motown” is a tribute to the heyday of the legendary record label. A 25-piece ensemble consisting of a band and top-tier vocal soloists brings the highlights of the revolutionary soul era to life on stage with energy and authenticity.
