Always fresh. Always surprising. Every concert is an adventure. Wenzel is a master of improvisation. Completely unknown songs appear as if out of nowhere, stand side by side with those long thought forgotten, and weave a new web of meaning and nonsense with this poet’s hits.

Wenzel, seasoned by every stage and drenched in the sweat of orgiastic concerts, remains astonishingly true to himself, no matter what field he’s currently working in. He seems carried by an indomitable thirst for life, happiness, and laughter. He enchants his listeners with gestures, glances, and the sound of his voice—weathered by whiskey and smoke, by melancholy and intoxication. Accordion, guitars, and piano alternate under his hands depending on his mood.

It is always the moment that is celebrated—those irretrievable moments of a life, a love, a concert. Wenzel shies away from nothing. To him, the mundane pop song is just as significant as the sad ballad or the sarcastic couplet. His audience are the kings. He is the jester. He holds a mirror up to his own face, and the audience recognizes themselves in it. Perhaps that makes life a little more bearable. Sometimes the beautiful truth suffices, and sometimes you just have to tell a more beautiful lie.

Wenzel is an author, composer, musician, singer, actor, and director. His tours have taken him through France, Austria, the United States, Nicaragua, Cuba, Turkey, and other countries. Wenzel has shared the stage with Arlo Guthrie, Randy Newman, Billy Bragg, Konstantin Wecker, and many other musicians. Wenzel has received numerous honors, ranging from the GOLDENE AMIGA and the Heinrich Heine Prize to the German Cabaret Award, the German Record Critics’ Award (eight times), and the Liederbestenliste Award.
