Her name is Ronja and her parents run a lucrative cocaine ring. So far, this could also take place in modern coming-of-age stories with a more criminal thrust. But what follows not only sounds like a wild mixture of "4 Blocks", "Banksters" and "Kleo", it is also based on the real experiences of a school friend of co-director Pola Beck ("Pressure"). When the parents of the 18-year-old played by Golden Globe nominee and Lola winner Helena Zengel ("Systemsprenger") are sent to prison, everything falls apart within a few hours for the girl who has grown up in a sheltered environment: Control, trust, normality. Suddenly she has to pull out all the stops to get her out again. And the boundaries between right and wrong, closeness and betrayal, legal and illegal become blurred. Ronja has to delve deep into the family business and becomes an active player in a game whose rules she has yet to learn. The result is one of the most ambitious German-language series projects of the year and has enormous international appeal, and not just because of the names involved - including Helena Zengel and Richard Kropf ("Kleo"), who is responsible for the scripts.
