Wissen um 11: Queeres Leben in der Arktis
In the organizer's words:
Knowledge at 11: Queer Life in the Arctic
Lecture by Dr. Simon Jungblut
In this lecture, marine zoologist Dr. Simon Jungblut presents examples of queer life in the Arctic. From gay polar foxes and bisexual walruses to intersex belugas—the spectrum of examples of relationship and identity possibilities in the Arctic animal kingdom is just as broad as anywhere else on the planet, and of course among humans as well. The lecture also offers insight into queer human life in the Arctic, which presents unique challenges. Yet even in Arctic cities, annual Pride parades take place, supported by the general public—an occurrence that is certainly extraordinary from a Central European perspective.
💡“Wissen um 11,” the science matinee in Bremen, where exciting and current topics from the world of science are presented every Saturday at 11 a.m. in thirty-minute sessions and are occasionally filmed and published on our YouTube channel. Free admission.
