The wealthy Mr. Earnshaw (Martin Clunes) takes the orphan Heathcliff (Owen Cooper) into his family. From then on, Heathcliff grows up on the remote estate Wuthering Heights, where he is tolerated but not accepted. He is able to form an emotional bond only with Cathy (Charlotte Mellington), the daughter of the house. Years later, when the now-adult Cathy (Margot Robbie) finally decides, for social reasons, to marry the wealthy Edgar Linton (Shazad Latif), Heathcliff’s (Jacob Elordi) world falls apart. He leaves Wuthering Heights behind—only to return years later, hardened inside and driven by a plan for revenge that he pursues with ice-cold determination over a long period of time: He wants to humiliate and destroy Cathy just as he once felt humiliated by her and the society she represents.
