The ofrenda, an altar about 40 m2 in size and exuberantly decorated, is the linchpin of the Mexican celebration of the dead. After the ceremonial opening, it is decorated with flowers, candles, handicrafts, fruit, cakes, sweets, lemonade, liquor, cigarettes - gifts for the deceased. You as visitors* are also invited to bring gifts such as photos, candles for your deceased. In this way, the altar grows and fills with mementos during the celebration.
Opening and closing ceremonies are performed each day of the festival using traditional rhythm instruments such as rattles and bells and shells to invite the deceased.
