Culture in Your Neighborhood: Free, for everyone, everywhere.

The Vienna Summer of Culture transforms the entire city into an open-air stage. From July 2 through August 16, the festival will feature performances on nine neighborhood stages and two special stages with a program that knows no genre boundaries: cabaret, literature, music, dance & performance, theater, contemporary circus, and for the little ones: a children’s program in the mornings.

The concept is simple and radical: culture belongs to everyone, not just those in the theaters of the city center. That’s why the festival takes place outdoors, in parks from Favoriten to Floridsdorf—everywhere where people actually live and spend their time. Free admission. No reservations required. Just show up.

What to expect: International and local acts that experiment, provoke, and surprise. A queer dance evening alongside a cabaret classic. A concert with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and an underground DJ at Nordwestbahnhof. Performances you can watch, or workshops where you become part of the action yourself. Classical Indian dancers alongside contemporary circus. Poets reading their work, musicians experimenting.

The stages themselves are the neighborhood squares: Waldmüllerpark (1100), Hyblerpark (1110), Wilhelmsdorfer Park (1120), Reithofferpark (1150), Kongreßpark (1160), Nordwestbahnhof (1200), Fußballverein 1210 (1210), Schrödingerplatz (1220), Stadtpark Atzgersdorf (1230). Plus special events at Rathausplatz and the Kaiserwiese. That means: short distances, no large venues—culture on a neighborhood scale.

In addition to the evening events, there’s Kultursommer Plus: workshops, open art stations, and picnics where you can get creative yourself. And garden concerts at the “Häuser zum Leben,” where seniors and neighbors make music together.

The festival also holds the Austrian Eco-Label for Green Meetings and Events—sustainability isn’t just for show, but a fundamental principle.
