A Tribute to Curtis Mayfield
In the organizer's words:
Curtis Mayfield influenced artists such as Bob Marley, Lauryn Hill, Jimi Hendrix, and Kendrick Lamar. Despite his enormous influence on music and culture, his name is still rarely mentioned today. As the voice of the civil rights movement, a symbol of artistic integrity, and a source of hope for entire generations, Mayfield created music of extraordinary depth, soul, and complexity. Young musicians from Hamburg’s jazz scene, who have long been inspired by Mayfield’s music, hope to carry on his spirit and timeless message through these two concerts.
