Nicole Metzger – A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald

1934. Apollo Theater, Harlem, NYC. Amateur Night. Seventeen-year-old “Snake Hip Ella” wanted to compete as a dancer. But her legs gave out just before the show was about to begin. So she spontaneously sang a song—her mother’s favorite: “Judy.” And the young Ella Fitzgerald won first prize, marking the beginning of a unique journey that would lead her to become the most famous jazz singer of all time. Radio Time. Twelve-year-old Nicole Metzger hears recordings of Ella Fitzgerald on the radio. She is completely captivated by Ella’s voice and her scat singing. And this is where Nicole Metzger’s journey to becoming a jazz singer began. That’s why the show *One Night of Ella* is a deeply personal project for Nicole Metzger, and with captivating stories and wonderful songs from the Great American Songbook, she transports us into Ella’s world.

Metzger’s great talent as a singer and emotional performer allows us to experience an evening with Ella. “One Night of Ella.” She is accompanied by top-notch jazz musicians—from a trio to a quartet. Together, they represent swing at its best!
