Morgan Grant (Allison Williams) was just 19 years old when she and her husband Chris (Scott Eastwood) had their daughter Clara (Mckenna Grace). Today, Clara is 16 years old and doesn't have a particularly good relationship with her mother at the moment. Instead, she is in love for the first time - with Miller Adams (Mason Thames). But she has no intention of following in her mother's family planning footsteps. Sitting at home with a child and husband at the age of 19? Out of the question! But these are issues and questions that suddenly fade into the background when a tragic car accident turns Clara and Morgan's lives upside down. Chris and Morgan's sister Jenny (Willa Fitzgerald) were in the car. Both are killed in the accident. All sorts of unanswered questions remain - including whether Chris and Jenny were having an affair. So how are mother and daughter supposed to cope with this moment when they are barely getting along themselves?
