Amalie Dahl – DaughterDaughter

DaughterDaughter is the name of a collaborative quartet made up of four improvisation artists from Oslo, Berlin, Cologne and Amsterdam. Alto saxophonist Amalie Dahl, who was born in Denmark and lives in Oslo, stands for an individual and personal approach to improvised music that is both free and tonally bound, in which she often condenses her energetic playing into emotional sounds. The same can be said of tenor saxophonist Camila Nebbia, who lives in Berlin and was born in Buenos Aires. In her projects, she deals with themes such as identity, migration and integrity in the form of hauntingly urgent improvisational music. Cologne-born Elisabeth Coudoux has found her own personal style on her instrument, the cello, in which she combines the noisy with the melodic. And drummer Sun-Mi Hong, who was born in South Korea and lives in Amsterdam, feels most at home when she finds herself between a concrete beat and open pulsation with her differentiated drumming.
