At the Place of Ghosts
One night, Mise’l receives a visit from a charred figure. When he touches it, it crumbles into ashes. Is this a warning? Have the ghosts of the past caught up with the young man, and will his family never find peace again? Together with his brother Ante, from whom he has been estranged for years, he sets out into the forest of their childhood to finally lay to rest the evil that tormented them even back then.
Bretten Hannam’s ghost story delves deep into the heart of a dark forest and into the mythology of the Mi’kmaq Native Americans. The journey into mythology and the traumas of childhood disrupts the fabric of time and space. Eyes glowing in the darkness, slit throats, and pierced bodies blend with the evocative, ominous nature shots captured by Canadian cinematographer Guy Godfree to create a supernatural, intense thriller.
