In the organizer's words:

Just Unwind — A Creative Offline Movie Night with a Sweet Surprise and a Film That Will Enchant You

Presented by The Offline Club Cologne

Turn off your phone. Live in the moment.

Just be unreachable for a few hours. Instead of scrolling, there’s time for creativity, enjoyment, connections, and watching a movie together. In the true spirit of The Offline Club, we want to create an evening where the moment takes center stage. It doesn’t take much to make for a special summer evening: good company, a creative break, and a movie as tempting as chocolate.

👉 When you arrive, we ask that you switch your cell phone to offline mode. Of course, you can still take photos—even without a connection.

Here’s what to expect

Together with ArtNight, the Chocolate Museum, and The Offline Club, the open-air cinema will become a relaxed gathering spot under the stars. If you’d like, bring some yarn and knitting needles and join our open knitting cinema. Other creative offline ideas are welcome, too!

We’ll kick things off with a two-hour painting workshop with ArtNight. Whether it’s your first time holding a paintbrush or you’re an experienced artist—artist Laura will guide you as you create your own work of art. Afterward, just stick around and literally dive into “Chocolat” with us. The Cologne Chocolate Museum will treat you to little chocolate goodies and sweeten the evening with moments of pure indulgence.

About the movie "Chocolat"

As everyone knows, chocolate makes you happy. Add a pinch of chili according to an ancient Native American secret recipe, and it becomes downright irresistible. Vianne Rocher (Juliette Binoche) is a master of this art. One day, a gentle breeze carries her and her daughter Anouk to a small provincial town in France. In no time at all, she enchants the palates of the staid residents with the delicacies from her newly opened chocolaterie. The women come alive again and let the mysterious Vianne tempt them into a more independent life. When the stranger falls in love with a gypsy (Johnny Depp), the strict mayor has had enough. But it isn’t long before he, too, succumbs to the seductive power of these sweet temptations.

Swedish director Lasse Hallström tells a cinematic fairy tale with modern themes: tolerance, sensuality, indulgence, and a zest for life define the enchanting atmosphere of this romantic comedy, which was captured by cinematographer Roger Pratt with wonderfully poetic echoes of the old masters of French cinema.

Info/Registration for Art Workshop

Before “Chocolat” hits the screen at around 8:45 p.m., you’ll get creative yourself. In keeping with the film, we’ll paint our popular ArtNight motif, “Abstract Structure,” under the open sky!
Creative & enjoyable: Just as Vianne invites you to discover new things and enjoy life’s little pleasures, you’ll create your own abstract work of art. Using a palette knife, textural elements, and vibrant acrylic paints, you’ll intuitively experiment with colors, shapes, and textures—without a template—guided by Laura on-site.

Note

Tickets for the workshop are only available directly through ArtNight!Admission to the movie screening afterward is included for all workshop participants.
