In the organizer's words:
As a symbol of theCologne–Kyotosister city partnership, this exhibition is conceived as an artistic dialogue between the two cities.
While European painting emphasizes individual expression above all else, Kyoto’sYūzen kimono designembodies a traditional aesthetic that bridges art and everyday life.
Works by Kyoto masterNaoki Nomuraand Cologne artistJeannette de Payrebrunemeet at the intersection of tradition and the present, East and West.
The highlight of the exhibition is the collaborative project“Résonance – in a Kimono,” which unites painting and textile art into a new form of artistic expression.
