Berliner Kurkonzerte in Weißensee - Sommerfrische & Pop im Kiez mit: Popkoro Chor, Der Singende Tresen, Onom Agemo & the Disco Jumpers, Captain of None, Tanztheater Kollektiv OOPSALA

In the organizer's words:

The Berlin Spa Concerts at Weißer See are back!
We’re prescribing a second round of relaxation amid the park, lake, and stage. Of course, there will be mineral water on tap (with or without a splash of soda) and musical entertainment featuring a choir, a live band, children’s dance theater, and a DJ.

So hop on your bikes, pack your picnic baskets, and come to the “Kurpark Weißensee” on the small courtyard stage! Free admission; a small visitor’s tax is requested.

Program:
 2:30 p.m. Popkoro Choir
3:15 PM OOPSALA Dance Theater Collective with their new piece “Im Wal”
 4:00 PM Der Singende Tresen
5:30 PM Onom Agemo & the Disco Jumpers
DJ sets by Captain of None

The day kicks off with the brand-new PopKoro Choir from Berlin. The polyphonic choir, led by pianist Cem Dinler, specializes in 1970s Türkçe pop (Turkish pop music), but is gradually expanding its repertoire to include other eras and languages.

For younger guests ages 4 and up, the dance theater collective OOPSALA will present its new piece “IM WAL.” The piece addresses ocean pollution: through imaginative choreography, the three dancers take the audience on a journey into the beautiful underwater world and into the belly of a whale. The audience is invited to become part of the performance through games and improvisations.

The Berlin band Der Singende Tresen plays a unique blend of chanson, punk, and jazz with poetic and satirical lyrics that go beyond all clichés. Singer Manja Präkels performs a constantly surprising balancing act between 1920s cabaret and blues vocals, between clownish charm and tender melancholy. Here, the band presents its program featuring songs and lyrics by Erich Mühsam.

Following that, Onom Agemo & the Disco Jumpers, led by the restless saxophonist Johannes Schleiermacher, will play their blend of explosive jazz improvisations, offbeat Krautrock, lively keyboard sounds, and psychedelia.

DJ Captain of None moves effortlessly between ambient, dub, leftfield, electronica, and gently pulsating grooves.
