Canto dei sass': MALARAZZA - TOTENTANZ
In the organizer's words:
Songs spanning several centuries: Mediterranean folk songs meet German folk songs—songs about social conditions, exclusion, unrest, and grief. Why have such songs largely disappeared, been forgotten, or downplayed in Germany, while in Italy they remain a natural part of the repertoire to this day? “Canto dei Sass’” develops a musical dialogue from this, in which centuries-old melodies become the source of contemporary interpretation: thus, historical references meet improvisational curiosity and today’s musical language. The interplay of the three musicians thrives on finely tuned interaction between the voice and the tonal diversity of the instruments.
Davide Casali Eschmann (vocals, flutes), Mathis Mayr (cello, viella, vocals, electronics), Jacob Greenberg (piano, Indian harmonium, electronics)
