Open Monument Day
A Guided Tour of the COMEDIA Theater
The COMEDIA Theater is now located where the fire department was based for 99 years. The historic, listed building of Fire Station No. 4, dating from 1904, opened as the COMEDIA Theater in 2009, expanded to include a new wing with two auditoriums. The Art Nouveau industrial architecture is evident in the dining area, the COMEDIA Wagenhalle, which features original wall paneling, doors, and fire poles. The old roof structure has also been preserved. Today, the COMEDIA is the cultural hub for young audiences in Cologne and North Rhine-Westphalia.
On the guided tour led by firefighters and theater staff, you’ll learn a lot about the past and present uses of the space.
The tours are free and suitable for children ages 6 and up. The meeting point is the COMEDIA foyer.
