Riccardo Terzo and Maya Purdue
For Riccardo Terzo, doing without Robert Schumann's dreamy character pieces is out of the question. Originally composed for oboe, clarinet and violoncello, the Italian bassoonist makes the short works in free form his own and lets them shine anew in the warm tenor of his instrument. This is accompanied by two of Schumann's most popular early piano works, which originate from the creative phase in which he was still determined to pour his exuberant creativity into the classical sonata form: the piano cycle "Faschingsschwank aus Wien", originally conceived as a "great romantic sonata", and the stormy, virtuoso Sonata in G minor.
Riccardo Terzo: bassoon
Maya Purdue: piano
The concert will be preceded by a public guided tour of the Schumann House. An event as part of the Schumann Festival.
