As part of the exhibition "Herbert Döring-Spengler" we are showing the film "An Impossible Project" (OmU, 99 minutes).
Content
Instagram stories, streaming, fitness apps, e-books and online trends. The hype surrounding the almost complete digitalization of our lives is giving way to an increasing longing for the real and tangible. Digital detox and slow food are trending; vinyl and analog photography, handwritten and homemade items are celebrating a comeback.
In his documentary, Jens Meurer lets people have their say who were already looking for a turn to analog when others were still surrendering to the promises of the next generation of iPhones. Like the eccentric but likeable hero of the film, Florian "Doc" Kaps, who risked his entire fortune in 2008 to save the world's last Polaroid factory from going out of business with a small group of idealists. A courageous swim against the tide and an attempt to break free from the grip of technology.
