Sebastián, a young idealistic film director, has set out to make a sincere film about Christopher Columbus. Sebastián is determined to debunk the myth, he wants to show what Columbus set in motion: Greed for gold, horrific violence against the indigenous people. Costa, Sebastián's producer, is primarily interested in ensuring that the film is shot on time and within budget. Costa chooses Bolivia as the filming location - low costs push historical accuracy somewhat into the background. However, social unrest threatens during filming. The city's water supply has been sold to a multinational corporation. 500 years after Columbus, violent confrontations between the indigenous population and a highly armed modern army break out once again. Sebastián and Costa's film crew can barely avoid the current conflicts: Their Indian lead actor Daniel, of all people, is one of the leaders ...
