In a music scene as heterogeneous as "global music", there is always a need for discussion. Be it about terms and boundaries, practical problems or social potential. The association Globale Musik Köln e.V. is continuing its panel discussion series "Kölner Klänge" with three dates in 2023/24. The aim of the discussions is to encourage a lively, honest but also critical exchange on various cultural and educational policy issues that affect the professional everyday life of Cologne musicians and communities in their daily work.

Part 3 of the discussion series will take place on Thursday, January 18, 2024 | 7 pm at Kulturbunker Mülheim . Following the first two panel discussions on the topics "In India, Beethoven is world music! A question of perspective?" and "Who am I (not)? Aconversation about attributions and non-identities in the context of "global music"!", this time we would like to talk to you about the question:

"Migrant in Cologne customs?"
A custom is a regularly recurring social act performed by people within a community in fixed, highly ritualized forms. Customs are an expression of tradition. We would like to know: how migrant is customs in Cologne? How visible are migrant traditions in Cologne society? What framework conditions promote or hinder this visibility? How established are migrant perspectives as part of Cologne's perspectives in the cultural-political context? And what role does Cologne Carnival play in this?
