Heavily inspired by witchcraft and the supernatural, Hellripper is also deeply rooted in its Scottish heritage, drawing on the landscape, legends, and historical events as a backdrop for its lyrics and imagery. NECROFIER are rewriting the rules of black metal in their own blood. Since 2018, the quartet has infused the icy atmospheres of mid-’90s Norwegian black metal with a spicy Texan intensity, and *Transcend Into Oblivion* carries out their approach with more power, conviction, and ingenuity than ever before. Here, Necrofier create a modern classic of the genre, in which stormy outbursts of extreme intensity are interwoven with ominous, melancholic, otherworldly melodies that shimmer in the darkness like will-o’-the-wisps on a pitch-black night.
