Accessible, bold, unconventional: the vision string quartet as the ensemble of the future

With “Impuls Plus,” the Cologne Philharmonic invites you to an introductory talk at the Interim Central Library before the concert: Here you’ll gain deeper or entirely new insights into the works featured in the evening’s program. Behind-the-scenes stories, interesting facts, and interactive elements will set the mood for the concert.

The program’s name says it all: The vision string quartet aims to create a vision of the future for the string quartet genre right here and now. Their approach is as exciting as it is successful. This is how a young quartet becomes a modern band.

The vision string quartet wants to shake up the scene. That’s why the four members see themselves as a band. They want to be approachable, so they play in clubs and dark rooms just as much as in the largest concert halls—sometimes with folk, pop, or jazz, and other times with pure classical music. No matter where or what they play, the music should sound fresh.

On this evening, the vision string quartet will perform works by Brahms, Mozart, and Shostakovich.
