In conversation with Alexander Košenina
Judith Hermann's "Sommerhaus, später" was at the forefront of Berlin literature at the turn of the millennium. It was often referred to as the "sound of a new generation". Sober, laconic, taciturn and almost emotionless, Hermann's short texts tell of life in artistic and drop-out circles in and around Berlin. The successful title from 1998 has become a classic and school reading thanks to its inclusion in Reclam's Universal Library. On the occasion of the new edition, Judith Hermann will be reading from her cult book again. In conversation, she will develop new perspectives on the cultural locations and scenes of Berlin in the post-reunification period and place them in the context of her poetry lecture "Wir hätten uns alles gesagt" (2023).
