kammerkonzerte.koeln: Arundos Quintett

Four years ago, the Arundos Quintet had already performed once at kammerkonzerten.koeln—back then, still in the Kunstverein hall. The concert completely captivated the audience, and in the years that followed, the quintet gave magnificent performances at the Cologne Philharmonic Hall, the WDR Funkhaus in Cologne, the Beethoven House in Bonn, the Rheingau Music Festival, and many other prominent venues.

We are delighted to welcome the wind quintet back to our series this year, this time in the superb acoustics of the Humboldt Chamber Music Hall. 
The internationally composed Arundos Quintet has found its artistic home in North Rhine-Westphalia, where it received a three-year ensemble grant from the state in 2020. Their debut CD, *Origin*, was supported by a grant from the Kunststiftung NRW and received enthusiastic reviews in the music press as well as from Deutschlandfunk, Deutschlandfunk Kultur, and rbb Berlin. With *Saga*, the ensemble—again supported by the Kunststiftung NRW—now presents its second CD release.
Expanding its musical horizons is just as important to the Arundos Quintet as creating varied, thoughtfully curated programs that span eras and styles—and, last but not least, engaging in dialogue with the audience through its own personal concert introductions. Thus, the audience in Cologne can look forward to a captivating combination of different eras and styles. In addition to works by Bizet, Danzi, Schifrin, and Debussy, the concert will feature the premiere of a new quintet by Kevin Beavers. The Arundos Quintet had previously premiered this work by the Düsseldorf-based American composer in Bonn.
