Kunst und Geschichte im Austausch
In the organizer's words:
The NS Documentation Center and the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus are connected by a 300-metre-long axis across Königsplatz. Under National Socialism, this was the central cult location of the NSDAP. Due to their location, the two buildings are closely linked not only locally but also historically.
While the NS Documentation Center at the site of the former NSDAP party headquarters deals with the historical reappraisal of Königsplatz as a place of National Socialist propaganda, among other things, the Lenbachhaus not only examines its role during the Nazi dictatorship, but also the traces of National Socialism in its own collection.
In a joint tour, Lisa Kern and Nathalie Jacobsen share their perspectives on the institutional approach to the National Socialist past and the challenges associated with it.
Lisa Kern is a curator and provenance researcher at the Städtische Galerie am Lenbachhaus. Nathalie Jacobsen is a historian and works in the field of mediation at the NS Documentation Center.
