Lesbischer Karneval!

In the organizer's words:

Lesbian carnival in Cologne has developed into a permanent and visible part of queer carnival culture since the 1990s.

One of the first real highlights were the "Jecken Lesben" sessions in Cologne's Stollwerck, flanked by many small pub events and parties - often in response to the more male-oriented "Rosa Sitzung".

Since 2006, the Schnittchen-Sitzung has been the place to be for anyone who wants to celebrate lesbian carnival.

Lesbian carnival in Cologne is more than just a form of party: it is a form of cultural self-assertion and visibility within an otherwise often male-dominated carnival world.

Today, the events show that carnival in Cologne not only reproduces customs, but also stands for social change with a lively mixture of customs, politics and good entertainment.

Presenter Carolina Brachmann talks about this with her guests Karolin Balzar, Clarissa Kurscheid and Imi Paulus.

The evening takes place as part of this year's Cologne Lesbian Visibility Weeks 2026 and is a cooperation between Kölner VHS and Neue Medien e. V.
