Liraz Charhi's music is more than just pop, it is also political. The Israeli actress with Persian roots is active as a singer under her first name and has already released five albums. She sings in Farsi, works secretly with Iranian musicians and gives a voice to protest in Iran. Despite being banned, her songs are listened to, danced to and sung along to - as the soundtrack to courageous resistance in many protest videos by Iranian women in the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement. The groovy electro-pop with influences from the Persian and Israeli music tradition and echoes of 70s funk immediately gets into your legs and your heart. With her intoxicating mix of traditional and modern rhythms, she opens a musical gateway to a place of peace, joy and unrestricted freedom.
