Nectar Woode doesn’t sing loudly. She doesn’t need to. The 25-year-old musician from Milton Keynes belongs to that rare generation of artists who don’t demand attention through theatrics, but rather create it through intimacy. Her music thrives on honesty, warmth, and a rare emotional clarity. “I love being honest in my music. I want people to feel something,” says Woode about her approach, and that’s exactly what makes her songs so special.

As the daughter of Ghanaian-British parents, she grew up in an environment where creativity and music were part of everyday life. The harmonies of gospel music, as well as artists like Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder, and Donny Hathaway, left a lasting impression on her from an early age. At the same time, she recognized how valuable cultural and creative spaces are for young people—places where potential can grow and self-confidence can flourish. This led to her conviction: “Every person is creative and should have the chance to discover and develop that creativity.” Since her debut EP, “Nothing to Lose,” Nectar Woode has gradually built an international fan base. Songs like “Good Vibrations” became streaming hits, while the EP “Head Above Water” further advanced her musical evolution. She has been supported along the way by BBC Radio 1, a growing soul and jazz community, and prominent admirers. Elton John, for example—who has already drawn comparisons to the legendary Nina Simone—can now be heard on the song “Wine into Water” from her upcoming EP “Naturally.”

With her latest releases, Woode is opening a new chapter. Inspired by her first trip to Ghana, her father’s country of origin, she is deeply exploring themes of identity, family, and belonging. “I had to take that trip,” she says, looking back. Her experiences in Accra and Aburi left a deep impression. “To be honest, it felt as if I’d been there before. I can hardly explain it.”

Her talent is particularly evident on stage. Whether with a band or alone on guitar, Nectar Woode has earned her reputation as an extraordinary live performer, concert by concert. Following sold-out shows in London, a European tour, and numerous festival appearances, she continues her rise with the new mixtape “Naturally.” She describes her current single, “Rivers End,” as a place of self-acceptance: “At the end of the river, I accept myself just as I am, with all my flaws, weaknesses, and quirks.” Despite her musical evolution, community remains a core value for the artist. “I love community, and I love building community based on honesty,” she says. This sentiment runs through her music as well as her commitment to the British soul and jazz scene. In the fall of 2026, Nectar Woode will come to Germany for two shows, including a performance at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg.
