She is one of the most extraordinary songwriters of our time and since her double album "HAUS" was released in April 2024 at the latest, it is impossible to imagine the cultural landscape without her: Katharina Kollmann aka Nichtseattle. Hardly anyone manages to interweave the political and the private in their own songs as movingly as she does.
In her life, she is a singer-songwriter, choir leader and founder of a collective housing project. Her music is folk and indie rock. She processes the work of East German singer-songwriters such as Gerhard Schöne just as naturally as the American sound of the Pixies.
There's no sexiness in Nichtseattle's music, no small talk, no fake eroticism and pseudo-sentimentality, no tinsel and no frippery. "(...) But if you can deal with the raw unplasteredness of Kollmann's soul construction site, then it's the most beautiful, warmest and most permissive home away from home," wrote Andreas Borcholte enthusiastically about her songs in Der Spiegel.
After many sold-out shows with her now permanent five-piece band, she is returning to the "Große Liebe" tour this year.
