Toni doesn’t have it easy: Her mother is Swiss, her father Nigerian, and her skin tone falls into the “Cappuccino Macchiato” category (according to the official national classification of “people of color”). Within her family, she finds herself in the eye of a storm of unpredictable obsessions and passions. Meanwhile, the fashion company Frau Bodecas is facing a social media firestorm. To refute the accusation of racism, she decides to produce a soap opera featuring an all-Black cast. When Ms. Bodecas’s and Toni’s paths cross, the question arises: Isn’t life itself the cheapest soap opera? *Daily Soap* is the debut novel by Nora Osagiobare (b. 1992, Zurich).
