Music Matters: Tokio Hotel – Hinter die Welt
In the organizer's words:
The Sound of Germany in Oliver Schwabe's Films
At the age of nine, twins Bill and Tom Kaulitz from Magdeburg decided to become famous. At age twelve, together with Gustav Schäfer and Georg Listing, they formed a band that went on to conquer the world starting in 2005 under the name Tokio Hotel. In their early twenties, the twins fled to Los Angeles in a private jet, leaving behind thousands of enthusiastic fans and a life behind protective walls. The film delves into the band’s life and explores the price of success, the twins’ inseparable bond, love, sexuality, home, and music. Undeterred, the band continues to pursue the dream they began in childhood, and the Tokio Hotel pop fairy tale enters its next chapter. Film screening and discussion. A film by Oliver Schwabe, Germany, 2017, 90 min.
At the Düsseldorf Central Library, 6:30 p.m. in the Herzkammer.
In cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Düsseldorf.
